NAUI – The Definition of Diving

The popularity of scuba diving is increasing in recent years. NAUI, one of the most prominent organizations supporting this activity, has been a leading advocate. The association is not-for-profit and offers many certification programs. The association has limited locations in Asia, compared to PADI. Its divers should be willing to travel for training.

NAUI, a non-profit organisation, is available.

The NAUI was formed in the 1950s. Most instructors are volunteers. Many have been involved with scuba diving since its inception. NAUI began training instructors not necessarily scuba divers in 1960s. NAUI was started by volunteers from different countries, including Canada. NAUI was eventually created as a separate corporation. International expansion has seen the association form alliances with DAN International and Performance Freediving International. NAUI launched its marketing campaign "The Definition of Diving" in the early 1970s. The organization had over 5,000 instructors certified by 1979.

The organization's goal promotes safe diving and the preservation aquatic environments. It also helps divers become part of a community of underwater explorers. The website and social platforms of the organization allow divers to share their stories, photos and videos.

It offers a range of certification programs

NAUI offers many certification programs to certified divers. These courses will teach you the basics of diving equipment as well as safety tips. This program is beneficial to those who want to learn how spearfish and collect specimens. The course will provide information on safety concerns and specific techniques that are involved in spearfishing or collecting.

NAUI has a mobile application that lets users quickly and easily change their certification cards. It includes useful tools for planning dives, continuing training, and more. NAUI's roots are deep in recreational diving. They were founded in Los Angeles, in the 1950s. A few decades later, it was brought to the U.S. by the Sea Hunt TV show, which attracted many Californians to become certified divers.

It's taught in Asia at a select few locations

PADI offers the same certification courses as NAUI, but NAUI is offered in fewer places than SSI and PADI. However, both organizations offer the same skills and teach the same life-saving lessons. They are different in that NAUI is non-profit, and PADI is for-profit.

NAUI was established in Los Angeles in 1950. The magazine Skin Diver introduced American divers to the sport, while a TV program called Sea Hunt attracted potential divers.

It has fewer destinations than PADI

PADI and NAUI are very different despite their similarities. One of the biggest is the way the organization teaches and the certification requirements. While they share many similarities, their teaching methods and focus on improving diver skills are what sets them apart. PADI or NAUI is a matter of personal preference and attitude. PADI and NAUI are both excellent organizations that offer training and certification.

Although both organizations have similar training requirements for their certifications as scuba divers, NAUI places more emphasis on safety. For example, both require participants to complete three stages of training: the first basic course, the advanced course, and the professional course. While the requirements for each stage will vary between centers, in general NAUI divers must complete six dives below 40m, and PADI divers must do five at 30m. Both organizations require that students complete 40 open diving to earn their Divemaster certificate.

It's more practical than PADI

PADI and NAUI both offer Scuba Diving Certifications. But there are some differences. PADI, on the other hand, is a not-for-profit organization. NAUI is a charitable organization. Both organizations certify dive instructors and teach life-saving skills. They differ in their certification requirements and training methods.

PADI is a well-known diver training organization. John Cronin was the founder and Ralph Erickson was its first president. Both were NAUI instructors. They developed flexible diver training courses. PADI offers courses that cover all aspects of diving, including basic physics and function. PADI has more than 137,000 members and operates in over 180 countries.
