The Tec 40 Diver course teaches you the skills needed to manage emergencies while diving. The course includes three training diving sessions, a confined-water dive, knowledge development sessions, and practical applications. This certification can be earned after completing a minimum of 30 dives, including 10 enriched air nitrox dives. Upon completion of this course, you'll be eligible to take Padi Tec 40 courses at colleges and universities worldwide.
Tec 40 course
The PADI Tec 40 course expands on the skills of a recreational diver to include more advanced techniques. The course introduces students to air and trimix65 decompression gases. Students also learn advanced tec deep dive skills. Tec 40 students will also learn how to use back gas and master buoyancy control. A specialized nitrox theory will be taught to them.
The Tec40 course emphasizes team-diving techniques, self-reliance in the water, and communication in the water. Students learn about decompression theory to help plan dives better. This course includes a comprehensive session on the configuration of diving equipment and best practices for recreational divers.

The PADI Tec40 Course takes about three days. For the course to be completed, students must have completed 30 logged dives. This includes 10 in enriched gas. Students are eligible to switch to enriched gas after the course is completed. This allows them to dive to 40m.
To take the Tec 40 course, you must be at least 18 years old
PADI Tec 40 is a great place start if you're interested in technical diving. It bridges the gap from recreational diving to full technical deep compression diving. It teaches you the essential skills required for tec diver training. You'll be able to dive to 40 meters without stopping and use enriched air or 50% EANX on your decompression dives. You'll be able also to use a full-technical rig.
The Tec40 course teaches advanced decompression theories and emphasizes team-diving methods as well as a self-reliant attitude in the water. Tec40 also introduces students to advanced nitrox theory, including partial-pressures and oxygen exposure over multiple dives.
College credit for Tec40 course
PADI Tec40 requires a minimum of 30 logged diving dives. This includes 10 enriched oxygen nitrox dives. It teaches the diver to plan a dive and to use oxygen to decompress. It also helps the diver plan and execute extended decompression stops. It is the next level in a diver’s training, and opens the door for deeper expeditions. Complete the course and you can earn college credit.

Advanced divers interested in technical diving will benefit from the Tec 40 course. This course covers planning, the use of two deco gasses (nitrox and 100% oxygen in stages) and how to navigate the multi-gas computer. The course is suitable for divers who have completed their PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification and have dived at least 30 times.
