
Ice skating is possible at the UIUC Ice Arena. The synchronized skate team of the UIUC is nationally ranked. They have had performers compete at the international and national level. Tickets to the UIUC's spring show are $5 for general seating and $7 if you reserve seating.
University of Illinois Ice Arena
Champaign's University of Illinois Ice Arena, also called the Big Pond is an ice rink. It is owned and operated by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are many events held at the rink, including ice hockey.

Skating opportunities
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena is open to the general public. If you're interested in hosting a group event at the rink, there are several steps you should take. First, you will need to make a booking. To do this, visit the RSO Office, located in Room 284 of the Illini Union. You will need to provide a list of participants when you reserve ice time. A supervisor must be present at the rink during your rental period to answer any questions.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena's Center Ice Cafe is open to the public. The cafe, located next to the Customer Service Office offers food and beverages. There's also an Ice Arena Pro Shop with a wide variety of hockey and skating accessories.
Free skate trainers
Champaign, Illinois is home to The University of Illinois Ice Arena. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena remains open throughout the year to all members of the public at no charge. This rink can be used by the public to practice their figure skating and skateboarding skills.
Spring Show

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has issued an Illini-Alert following a gas leak at its ice arena. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. Firefighters blocked a sideway to the arena to prevent further contamination. The leak may have come from below the building.
