Master Scuba Diver (MSD), is a level in scuba diving certification that allows for recognition. It is offered in North America by several diver training agencies including the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. Course requirements

There are several requirements for master divers. A divemaster certification is required. You should also have completed several scuba diver courses. As a divemaster, you'll be able to teach new scuba divers and help them learn how to dive safely. The courses you have completed will equip you with the knowledge and skills to assist students underwater.


Students must log at least 40 dives to be eligible for the Master Diver program. While they are required to log at least 40 dives in order to complete the Master Diver course some people may find this too low for such a difficult course. Review your skills and log more fun dives to make sure you're prepared for the course. You might also want to integrate the advice from your Rescue course in your self-study.

PADI also offers specialties

PADI offers five specialized courses. The North East or Tropical curriculum can be chosen. The program can be completed with one or two electives. If you choose a PADI course that incorporates several of your favorite dive types, you will receive 10% off the five courses. After you complete your PADI course, it is possible to choose your specialty and build your own curriculum.
