What is the Difference between a dry and wet suit?

divers supplies

The key difference between a t-shirt and a drysuit lies in how much water can enter the suit. Your personal preference and your plans for participation will determine which wetsuit you choose. Ask yourself questions about how long you intend to stay in the water, how cold it gets and what your body type.

Goretex dry suits

The fabric is a crucial difference between GoreTex wetsuits and dry suits. Non-GoreTex dry suit fabrics don't breathe well, aren't as durable and provide less comfort. There are new dry suit fabrics, including waterproof and breathable fabrics. Kokatat, for example, designed a dry suit made of a durable, yet breathable Gore-Tex fabric. Kokatat's suits became the first to go on the market.

Trilaminate dry suits

The main difference between trilaminate dry suits and wet suits is the material used to make the outer shell. Trilaminate suits have a waterproof feature, however they lack insulation. They are also less flexible than trilaminate suits and must be properly fitted. This article will describe the main differences in wet suits and trilaminate suites and give you tips for selecting which suit is right.

Hydrus 3L fabric, dry suits

The Kokatat Hydrus 3L update to the T3 Swift Entry features a three-layer, water-resistant, breathable fabric. Its tough nylon outer layer and proprietary polyurethane micro-porous inner coating both move water vapor away from your body, while the soft knit polyester inner layer is comfortable against your skin. This entry-level drysuit also features a tough latex neck, wrist, and ankle gaskets to keep water out.

Suits from IR

You should not compare the benefits of a waterproof suit to a drysuit. They are both waterproof and watertight which makes them more effective in keeping you dry. Dry suits can keep you warm while also keeping water from transferring to your body. A lot of dry suits also have purge vals. Dry suits are used by aircrews for example.
